"Northern Bedstraw" (Galium boreale)
A perennial, growing from creeping rhizomes. This is not that noticeable of a plant ... especially when it is in the process of going to seed. But if one does take note of it at that time, it has its own delicate beauty. The plant's, not so delicate, purpose ... to curdle milk in the making of cheese! ... or so says my book. The Montana site has some interesting things to say about this plant ... if you look down towards the end of the entry.
